Epoxy floor finishes require a high strength engineered screed as a substrate. Sand cement screeds are not sufficient.
This is why when a Lend Lease aged care facility in Sydney required the floor replaced and new epoxy laid, the best solution was the Mapei Topcem screed. Alpha Epoxy installed the epoxy and Aquaroom Tiling installed the screed.
Originally, the floor prep for this job was going to take 3 days and be very expensive due to the thickness of the screed/self leveling required. However, we completed the job in a single morning at 1/3rd of the budgeted cost. Great result for all.
